Current situation analysis in agri-food sector in Koprivnica-Križevci and Međimurje County

DOCUMENT "CURRENT SITUATION ANALYSIS IN AGRI-FOOD SECTOR IN KOPRIVNICA-KRIŽEVCI AND MEĐIMURJE COUNTY“ CREATED IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE AGRISHORT PROJECT

In the framework of the "AgriShort" project, a document entitled "Current situation analysis in agri-food sector“ was created with the purpose to contribute to the topic of local food supply chains at micro level so that these distribution patterns can be successfully developed at the same time by strengthening its "organic base" - agriculture. In order to create a good quality document, many activities have been implemented, such as data collection, research activities, data analysis and interpretation, as well as other activities that provided insight into the state of agriculture and distribution of agricultural and food products through short supply chains in Koprivnica-Križevci and Međimurje County.

The main conclusions resulting from this document are that there is significant production potential in the Koprivnica-Križevci and Mađimurska County, but from the viewpoint of manufacturers, there is a need for consultancy in order to resolve the difficulties they face in organization.

Furthermore, in order to develop an efficient short supply chain, it is necessary to educate young producers who could become the real holders of agricultural production and rural development, while the local community is an "active environment" which provides possibilities for the development of local/regional food systems characterized by high levels of added value, short supply chains as well as high levels of social and ecological awareness.

A short supply chain is an important system for promoting a new food culture and sensitizing citizens with the local and fresh food, and one of the goals of the AgriShort project is to establish an organized model or organized co-operation of farmers in the form of a short supply chain.
